You've never seen this before in Salt Lake City.
There is a perception that urban life and single family homes do not co-exist. Metro Park West has set out to debunk that myth. Metro Park West comprises twenty four International Style individual homes built in line, in the tradition of urban townhouses. This allows the owner to experience all the advantages of living in the heart of Salt Lake's downtown but without condominium restraints.
With three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms and a private two-car underground parking garage with storage, these urban homes provide the space and lifestyle often regarded as impossible in an urban core. Each home features a wood burning fireplace, commercial style kitchen, and a spacious master suite, flexible loft space overlooking the two story living room, and front, rear, and roof top terraces.
Built using concrete, brick, and steel through out each building and three-story glass curtain walls also ensure a quality of investment that allows owners security for long term maintenance.
The typical units are around 2300 square feet and priced starting in the $700's.
In any city worldwide, there are three basic factors that define the absolute best neighborhoods for downtown living: high density housing, mixed with neighborhood commercial (usually owner operated), all centered on a large, public open space such as a plaza, city square, or park.
Pioneer Park is the only public open space in Utah that meets those requirements, and Metro Park West will be another distinctive addition to the robust development around the park.
Metro Park West is situated in of one of the most dynamic and authentic village neighborhoods in Salt Lake City. It is just steps away from the summer biweekly Farmers Market and just a short walk to numerous local restaurants, unique shopping, and theaters. Utah's largest entertainment series, the Twilight Concert Series, draws tens of thousands to hear music outdoors in downtown's 10-acre Pioneer Park every Thursday, and the Salt Lake City Film Center puts on the Pioneer Park Picture show, with free movies in the park every Friday evening in the summer.
With easy freeway access and located close to the Planetarium and Greek Town Trax stations (which will soon have direct airport service) life at Metro Park West will be at the epicenter of transportation convenience.
Living at Metro Park West will provide immersion in a community of open, like-minded people and culture, without any of the hassles of condominium living.
PIONEER PARKPioneer Park is the historic site of Salt Lake City's oldest settlement. Since that time the Park has gone through several transformations - including being listed on the National Historic Register.
In 1847, the first houses, school and government centers were built in the Old Pioneer Fort, the original name for Pioneer Park. It was later used as a landing station and camp for newly arrived immigrants and settlers.
In the 1960s and 70s the neighborhood surrounding the Park suffered as manufacturing and the light industrial markets that created the business base suffered. With the absence of the former activity the Park became an enclave for crime and illegal business.
The Park was at one point threatened to be sold for a golf course in 1898 because it was on the "wrong side of the tracks," despite its placement on the east side of the tracks. That, combined with the downfall of the neighborhood surrounding the park in the 60s and 70s, a stigma grew surrounding the park and its neighborhood.
Finally, in the 1990's and early 2000's City leadership launched an enormous effort to change and revitalize Pioneer Park, creating a safe activity-driven city center. The addition of a bocce ball court, an enclosed dog park and new benches, walkways and lighting helped to encourage daytime use for all the residents downtown. Additionally, programming was introduced on a massively larger scale than ever before. The Farmer's Market grew to fill all 10-acres including a Craft Market and the Twilight Concert Series boasting national chart topping musicians was relocated to the Park, bringing tens of thousands every week. In addition, groups like the SLC Film Center now program events like outdoor film screenings and other community events.
Today Pioneer Park is the only large public Park in downtown Salt Lake City. Improvements in infrastructure and programming have recreated the Park as a destination for all sectors of Salt Lake's residents. The lush tall trees and the open space are the ideal setting for relaxation and recreation for the urban community and their pets.
ZERO LOT LINE UNITMetro Park West was designed to maximize living convenience without the hassles and unpredictability of condominium ownership. The units are built out to the property lot lines and in-line following the tradition of traditional urban row homes but careful attention has been paid to creating interiors with a strong connection to the outdoors through the use of expansive glass walls & judicious partial set backs that allow incredible light and air to filter into every home. Access to the outdoors is provided buy way of terraces on the front and rear as well as an incredible roof top terrace that affords plenty of space for entertaining, sunning & potted gardens. Each house is a privately owned independent structure with no shared walls, utilities, plumbing, or parking. And while there will be some shared expenses and maintenance as a community they will be as nonintrusive as possible. But that is just the start. We believe great housing does not have to be a compromise between quality materials and thoughtful design. Metro Park West has been thoughtfully designed in the International Style, characterized by simplification of form and creation of ornament from the structural elements of the building, with a nod to the great architectural pioneers of Modernism. Each unit is constructed with a steel and concrete core painstakingly designed for a striking expression of pure functionality which is then wrapped by three story glass curtain walls and structural Atlas brick. These construction materials not only express themselves in unique ways but they are also arranged for modern lifestyle and convenience.
